Syria exempts Iranian products from customs duty

Syria has taken all measures to facilitate the flow of Iranian products into its markets free of customs duty, Syrian prime minister said Sunday. Wael al-Halqi made the remarks during his meeting with an Iranian delegation headed by Hassan Kazemi, an advisor to Iran\'s foreign minister. According to state-run SANA news agency, al-Halqi stressed the importance of developing commercial relations between Syria and Iran by activating old agreements and signing new ones on expanding bilateral trade. He said the government\'s facilitation is to ease the flow of Iranian products into Syrian markets by exempting all Iranian imports from customs fees and taxes. For his part, Kazemi said that his country would work on some development projects in Syria, particularly in the fields of flour mills and electric power, in addition to providing Syria with all the basic commodities it needs. Iran has emerged as the main regional ally of Syria during the latter\'s 27-month-old conflict.
