Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) is negotiating with the State Railways of Turkey over renting trains, local media reported on Monday. The Turkish side could rent nine trains from the Federation of BiH Railways, which will provide much needed funds for the FBiH company, according to Fena, the Federal News Agency of BiH. The renting plan was supported by FBiH government, and a contract could be signed soon, it reported, adding that details will be known to the public soon. Due to lack of financial resources as well as passengers, the trains bought by FBiH Railways were not put into operations, causing a huge waste of money. Meanwhile, the state of rail tracks is obsolete over lack of maintenance. In August, the State Railways of Turkey rented eight locomotives from FBiH Railways with a one-year contract of over 2.5 million euros (about 3.38 million U. S. dollars). The Turkish side is now interested in renting more, said FBiH Railways.
