Turkey increased to 5th rank in European automotive sales in August 2012, as Anatolia news agency reports. It also rose to the 6th rank in January-August period of 2012, according to figures of Automotive Distributors Association (ODD). Meanwhile, European automotive market shrank 7% and dropped to 9.7 million in January-August period of 2012 when compared to the same period of 2011 during which the market figure had been 10.5 million. European automotive market shrank 8.9% to 831,703 in August 2012 from 912,934 in August 2011. Light commercial vehicles market dropped 10.9% to 959,434 in the first eight months of 2012 from 1.076 million in the same period of 2011. Turkey took place on the second rank in August 2012, and fourth in January-August period of 2012 in the sales of light commercial vehicles.
