Turkish State Airports Authority\'s new data shows 20 percent increase in number of both domestic and international passengers Turkey\'s State Airports Authority (DHMI) has released a new data showing 20 percent growth in number of domestic and international passengers. According to the statistics, the number of domestic passengers in Turkey has increased by 19,6 percent during last February in comparison to the same month of the previous year, as the number of international passenger rose by 21,1 percent. Turkish Airports served over 5 million domestic and 3 million 263 thousand international passengers during February 2013. Total domestic flights from Turkish Airports has went up by 13,4 percent, reaching more than 46 thousand flights in total, while number of international flights reached 10,5 percent increase, amounting over 27 thousand flights. Including 18 thousand overflights, 91,618 planes in total carried about 8,5 million people in Turkish air space. Turkey\'s largest airport Ataturk Airport, located in Istanbul, also enjoyed the positive atmosphere of booming industry. Total air traffic recorded in Ataturk Airport has risen by 15 percent, reaching over 2 million domestic flights carrying more than 3,5 million passengers. On average, the airport handled 1.016 planes and 126,106 passengers per day last February. Air Cargo companies also benefited from growing market. The amount of cargo carried via domestic flights went 25,8 percent up, while international deliveries via airways rose 17,5 percent. Total weight of load including cargo, mail and passenger baggages carried by airlines reach up to 154,212 tones in February.
