Abu Dhabi - Arabstoday
Recruitment activities in the UAE witnessed an year-on-year growth of 32 per cent in July, ranking the country top second after Kuwait in online opportunities, a survey by job portal monster.com said. The Monster.Com’s employment UAE index, a monthly gauge of the  online job demand, rose by 31 points to 127 in July, from 96 points in the same 2011 month. Kuwait led all countries in the Middle East with an annual growth of 36 per cent in on-line job demand while Saudi Arabia remained the only country that did not register any growth over July 2011. Across the Middle East, the employment index grew 32 per cent on annual basis. The Monster Employment Index is a monthly gauge of online job posting activity in Middle-East based on a real-time review of tens of thousands of employer job opportunities culled from a large representative selection of career Web sites and online job listings. The Index does not reflect the trend of any one advertiser or source, but is an aggregate measure of the change in job listings across the industry. Recruitment activities in Qatar showed a 23 per cent surge year on year in July. In Oman, online job demand grew 11 per cent year on year while Bahrain saw a growth of nine per cent. “The Monster Employment Index is showing a degree of momentum loss, as the expansionary trend across Middle Eastern online recruitment has slowed in recent months,” said Sanjay Modi, Managing Director, Monster.com (India/MiddleEast/South East Asia). “Nonetheless, job prospects found online this summer exceed year-ago levels for most sectors, led by hospitality.” Hospitality industry continued to lead all sectors with 56 per cent annual growth while retail/trade and logistics continued to register strong growth of more than 40 per cent.
