Unemployment rate for women in Turkey was 10.8 percent in 2012 where this rate increases to 19.9 percent for women aged between 15 and 24, according to Turkish Statistical Authority (TurkStat) TurkStat on Friday announced \"Women in Statistics\" figures for 2012. Women make up 49.8 percent of Turkey\'s population. 37,956,168 people are females in Turkey where the population is 75,627,384. According to the results of Address Based Population Registration System, 2012, median age is 30.6 for females, and it is 29.5 for males in Turkey. It is estimated that life expectancy at birth will be 79.2 years for females and 74.7 years for males in 2013. Of women who got married in 2011, mean age at first marriage was 23.3 and for men it was 26.6 and 120,117 couples got divorced in 2011. When first marriages of married couples are considered, 93.7 percent of the couples are married with both civil and religious ceremonies and 3 percent are married with only religious ceremony. The proportion of those who married to their relatives is 23.3 percent, the proportion of those who made arranged marriages with family decision without being asked own opinion is 9.4 percent. Schooling rates by level of education observed no significant difference between men and women. In 2012, labor force participation rate among women is 29.5 percent and 70,1 percent of working women are happy with their jobs. Females participate in political life less than males. While the proportion of female deputies in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey was 4.5 percent in 1935, this proportion increased to 14.4 percent in 2012. There is only one female ministers in the cabinet.
