Private-sector employment in the United States rose by 188,000 jobs in June, with gains made by small to large businesses, payroll processor ADP said Wednesday. The month\'s gains were better than May, when 135,000 new jobs were created. It also beats April, when 113,000 private-sector jobs were added to the economy. ADP said businesses with under 50 employees were responsible for 84,000 new jobs in June, while medium-sized companies added 55,000 jobs in the month. The largest firms, those with over 500 employees, added 49,000 jobs in June, ADP said. \"During the month of June, the U.S. private sector added 188,000 jobs, driven by gains across all sizes of businesses and with small companies showing the largest overall monthly increase. Most notably, the goods-producing sector added 27,000 jobs in June, a marked improvement over the decline the previous month,\" said Carlos Rodriguez, president and chief executive officer of ADP. While goods-producing jobs grew by 27,000, services businesses overshadowed that with the addition of 161,000 new jobs. Broken down by industry, construction added 21,000 jobs and manufacturing added 1,000 in the month. The category of trade, transportation, utilities added 43,000 workers in the month while financial jobs rose by 13,000 and professional service jobs rose by 40,000. The ADP report is released two days prior to the Labor Department\'s monthly Employment Situation report which is considered more complete, as it includes public and private sector jobs.
