19 lawsuits against evaders of 150 mln EGP taxes

Launching wide-scale operation against tax and custom evaders, taxes and customs prosecution officers filed 19 lawsuits against people evading the payment of 150 million EGP in taxes and customs. The campaign was launched under directives of Interior Minister Ahmed Gamal-Eddin. Public prosecution will immediately launch investigations into the filed suits. Menal Metwali, economy professor and director of the researches and studies centre at the Economy and Political Sciences Faculty, has said in press statements that tax returns account for 64 percent of the national revenues.
