99-percenters reoccupy 2 sites in Minneapolis

The 99-percenters in the United States have re-occupied two sites in the largest city of the northern state of Minnesota, pledging to remain there through spring and summer. The Occupy protesters gathered in Loring Park and Peavey Plaza in downtown Minneapolis, setting up tents at the sites to shield themselves from the rain. The demonstrators again voiced their fury against corporate greed, income disparities and social inequality. The protests came as the Occupy Minneapolis movement marked its six-month anniversary Saturday. During the fall and winter, anti-capitalism protesters staged demonstrations and set up tents in other parts of Minnesota. Following the development, state officials tightened rules in an attempt to restrict overnight camping and effectively removed the protesters’ tents. The world-wide Occupy movements emerged on September 17, 2011, after a group of people rallied in New York's financial district with the motto of “Occupy Wall Street” to protest corporate greed, top-level corruption, and poverty as well as social and economic inequality in the US. Despite police crackdowns and mass arrests, the Occupy movement has spread to many major US cities as well as to Australia, Britain, Germany, Italy, Spain, Ireland, Portugal and other countries.
