EgyptAir Ground Services encumbers losses over workers strike

EgyptAir Ground Services encumbered heavy losses estimated at millions of pounds over the nine-hour strike staged by its workers at Cairo Airport. The company's workers staged a strike late Saturday to express anger over the death of one stevedoring workers in a tractor accident. Workers say that most of the tractors need maintenance and some of them are without brakes. The minister of civil aviation and the ministry's leadership failed to coax the workers to be back to work until meeting their demands later on. The workers ended their strike in the wee hours of Sunday after fulfilling most of their demands. The company's head resigned, well-placed sources at Cairo Airport said. It was decided that all tractors will be renovated and will not start operation until the engineer in charge gives the green light, the sources said.
