
The number of people registered as unemployed in Spain fell by 5.94 percent in July, compared to a year earlier, according to data published Monday by the Spanish Ministry of Employment and Social Security.
This leaves the number of unemployed people in Spain at 4.4 million. The Ministry also reported a 0.67 percent fall in joblessness on a monthly basis.
The number of people unemployed in the services sector fell by 12,518 from June to July, and industry and construction by 9,798 people and 14,714 people respectively.
However, 424 more people were unemployed in the agriculture sector in the same period.
Secretary of State for Employment Engracia Hidalgo said the data confirmed unemployment is decreasing in the country.
She pointed out that the government aims to improve the quality of jobs once the loss of jobs is successfully halted.
