Residents have been cautioned to be careful in rough sea
Abu Dhabi - Emirates Voice

The ambulance and rescue team of the Ras Al Khaimah Police has rescued three children from drowning at the Saudi Institute Sea.

Brigadier Dr. Mohammed Saeed Al Humaidi, director general of the central operations room, RAK police, said the three siblings were dragged into the sea because of the rough and high waves.

"The Asian young kids, aged 5, 6, and 7 were swimming when they were dragged deep into the sea by the strong waves."

The central operations room of the RAK Police, having been alerted of the collision, dispatched ambulances, paramedics and rescue teams to the site in a record time.

"We have been alerted that three young children were drowning at the sea here, and the rescue teams reached the site in minutes and managed to rescue them with the help of the residents there."

The three children have swallowed large amounts of sea water as they didn't know swimming, he stated.

"The three kids were shifted to the beach where they were provided with first aid, and were then shifted to the hospital in the national ambulance for medical check-up."

The medical condition of two of the three kids was fine, but one needed more attention at the hospital, Brig, Humaidi elaborated.

"All sea goers need to be careful at the beach, particularly if they don't know swimming," he said. "Life jacket is also mandatory, and young children should never be left unattended in the sea."

An Arab woman and her daughter were also rescued from drowning late in April this year at the same Saudi Institute beach. The woman, in her forties, and her five-year-old girl, were fortunately heard by a staff inspector with the 'Raqib' or 'Monitor' environment patrol of the department of public works and services here.
