France\'s Council of State has granted a reprieve for two zoo elephants, who earlier had been ordered to be put down over fears they had tuberculosis, AFP reports. Baby, 42 and Nepal, 43 will be put into the care of Brigitte Bardot’s animal welfare foundation. Both elephants had been ‘sentenced’ to be destroyed in order to prevent the risk of further infection of other animals. The Council ruled that it was unclear that killing the elephants was the only way to avoid the spread of infection. Famous French actress Brigitte Bardot had earlier threatened to leave France for Russia if the two pachyderms were put to sleep. From: RT
