
An earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale hit the Mediterranean sea today at the depth of 14.7 km, according to the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency of Turkey.
The earthquake came one week after a 4.2 earth tremor that jolted northwest Turkey and a 4.6 earthquake that hit the second day.
A powerful magnitude-6.5 earthquake shook Gokceada Island located in Turkey's northwest Aegean region on May 24, injuring 266 people. It was followed by about 70 aftershocks.
