
Russia’s airlines Aeroflot has been awarded the international prize World Airline Awards as the best air carrier in Eastern Europe. The ceremony took place at the 50th Le Bourget air show, Aeroflot’s press-service has told ITAR-TASS. The prize was awarded by the British consulting agency Skytrax, which enjoys great authority in the global air industry. Over 200 air carriers contest the World Airline Awards every year. The prize is awarded on the basis of the offered products along the whole production chain and in all class of services through on-line questioning of more than 18 million passengers from 160 countries. Aeroflot is the leader of Russia’s air transport, a member of the global air alliance SkyTeam, connecting 1,000 destinations in 187 countries. In 2012 Aeroflot carried 17.7 million (jointly with companies in the group, 27.5 million passengers).
