
Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba) combined its employee welfare initiatives with a healthy dose of sportsmanship as it opened the Alba Bowling League 2012 on Monday, January 16, 2012 at the Alba Club. Alba’s Chief Executive, Laurent Schmitt inaugurated the league matches in which 12 teams representing a selection of various departments as well as a Ladies team, a Filipino team, Indian Team and a Mixed Team comprising employees and their families are expected to participate. The opening ceremony was also attended by members of Alba’s Senior Executive Management Team, departmental managers and employees. At the event, prizes were also given to the winners of the recently held National Day Fun Night 9-Tap Bowling Competition that provided opportunities to employees to compete in a fun-filled environment and demonstrate their bowling skills. The following were the winners: Men – Hassan Noor (1st Place); Ali Ebrahim Ghareeb (2nd Place); and Rey Bustos (3rd Place). Women – Marife Bustos (1st Place); Sana Ali Hussain (2nd Place); and Angie Alba (3rd Place). Children – J. C. Bustos (1st Place); Jovianne Francisco (2nd Place); and Ace Cleofas (3rd Place). Commenting on the opening of the Alba Bowling League 2012, the company’s Chief Executive, Laurent Schmitt said: “Throughout its 40-year history, Alba has supported sporting activities amongst its employees and is proud of the many sporting accolades that Alba employees have earned over the years. Bowling is highly popular amongst our employees where many of whom are world-class players having regional and international prizes. Hence, we expect the Alba Bowling League 2012 to be a very exciting event as our employees compete for the winners’ cup.” The Alba Bowling League 2012 matches will take place every Monday and Tuesday at 6 pm at the new bowling centre at the Alba Club.
