The Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba) Biathlon that takes place at the Hamala Beach Resort on Friday, September 30, 2011 underlines the company’s backing for activities that promote sports and physical fitness amongst Bahrain’s residents. The Alba Biathlon is organised by Bahrain Road Runners, a running group with nearly three-decade experience in organising races such as the marathon, half marathon, triathlon, duathlon, biathlon and other races. Participants in the Adult Race of the Alba Biathlon will have to cover 600 meters open water swim followed by a 6 km run. The Junior Race, on the other hand, will involve 300 meters open water swim followed by a 2 km run. Commenting on the company’s financial commitment of BD 1,000 (US$ 2,652) as title sponsor of the Alba Biathlon, Alba’s Chief Executive, Laurent Schmitt said: “Alba recognises the significance of inspiring a passion for sports and fitness amongst residents of Bahrain. We believe that they provide a road map for a healthy lifestyle, developing a winning attitude and understanding the value of working together as a team. Our support for the Alba Biathlon – organised by Bahrain Road Runners – underscores the priority we give to sports and fitness at the corporate level and its importance at the national level.” The Adult Race – open for those who are 16 years and above – is expected to start at 7:30 am while the Junior Race – open for children between 9 and 15 years – will start at 7:00 am.
