Alibaba's third quarter net profit rises 15% to $1.1bn

Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba, which recently completed the world's biggest stock offering, said Tuesday its third quarter net profit rose by 15 percent to $1.1 billion.
The company said adjusted earnings per share, the benchmark used in the United States where Alibaba is listed, came in at 45 cents, a 9.4 percent increase which was in line with analyst expectations.
