
The National Drilling Company, NDC, has opened its Drilling Training Centre at Bida Al Oshaneh Base Camp in Bu Hasa area at Al Gharbia (Western Region), aimed at imparting specialised technical training to new employees.
The centre has 6 halls, 4 laboratories, plus other facilities and is capable of accommodating more than 300 trainees.
NDC Chief Executive Officer, Abdalla Saeed Al Suwaidi, inaugurated the centre in the presence of Saeed bin Rasas Al Mansouri, Executive Manager for Nationals Affairs in the Ruler s Representative Court in the Western Region, Mohammed Shleiweh Al Qubaisi, Director of Human Resources at Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, ADNOC, Abdul Muneim Saif Al Kendi, Chief Executive Officer of Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations, ADCO, Abdul Aziz Ali Al Mansouri, Deputy Director of the School District in the Western Region, as well as a number of officials from various government entities and senior executives from the ADNOC Group of companies.
In his inaugural speech on the occasion, Abdalla Saeed Al Suwaidi said that NDC has taken a journey of unprecedented growth and expansion to serve the oil industry in Abu Dhabi, and as such the company acquired land rigs, island rigs and offshore jack-up rigs raising the total number from 28 rigs in 2009 to 57 today.
He said, "As we continue to grow, one of our main goals is to do our best in attracting and integrating new capable employees into NDC's talented workforce. Therefore, at the heart of the company s strategies and long-term plans is building the capacity of our local Emirati community through providing young talent with the necessary specialised training, and developing their skills so that they are totally prepared for a promising career in the oil and gas industry." Al Suwaidi added, "The inauguration of the NDC Drilling Training Centre is another milestone achieved by the company in its efforts to serve its clients, contribute to the development of the oil and gas industry and support the national economy with full dedication and devotion." Mohammed Shleiweh Al Qubaisi said that the new training centre is another great step in efforts aiming at creating a generation of qualified national workforce specialised in the drilling industry.
