
EQUATE Petrochemical Company has completed the full maintenance of its plants as well as the first stage of a project to raise the production of polyethylene unit, the company has announced.
Thanks to more than 10,000 of staff, and labor of contracting companies, the company has realized a major world achievement, completing all maintenance operations of its petrochemical plants within a "record time" in line with the relevant international criteria, EQUATE said in a statement on Saturday.
Work in the plants was suspended on 20 November for a month, and was resumed in late December, it added. Maintenance is carried out every eight months.
Over the same period, EQUATE successfully implemented the first phase of a project to increase the production of its polyethylene factory to a million metric tons, from 825 tons at present. The whole project is slated to complete in 2016.
Established in 1995, EQUATE is an international joint venture between Petrochemical Industries Company (PIC), The Dow Chemical Company (Dow), Boubyan Petrochemical Company (BPC) and Qurain Petrochemical Industries Company (QPIC).
Commencing production in 1997, EQUATE is the single operator of a fully integrated world-scale manufacturing facility producing over 5 million tons annually of high-quality petrochemical products which are marketed throughout the Middle East, Asia, Africa and Europe
