Lusail City Real Estate Development Company (LREDC), the developer of Lusail City, Qatar’s largest greenfield development, has recognised Chinese firm Sinohydro for achieving 5mn man hours without a lost-time-incident. Sinohydro is engaged in the developmental works on Construction Package 1 (CP1) located in the 38sqkm under-construction Lusail City northeast of Doha. “The 5mn-mark is all the more remarkable considering the complex nature of the project and the ensuing challenges the firm has had to deal with, including operation in narrow spaces, heavy lifting, and humid and testing weather conditions,” Salem al-Kuwari, LREDC’s Health, Safety, Security, Environment, Logistics and Quality director, said. Other senior Lusail officials, representatives of Sinohydro, and officials from Halcrow and Parsons International, which are also associated with CP1, were present at the recognition ceremony. “HSSELQ’s mission is to ensure that the workplace is safe and that the health and well-being of all workers is protected. We strive to continue working safely and to minimising the risk of injury to ourselves and others,” he said. On behalf of Sinohydro senior official Li Bingham received a plaque from LREDC. CP1 involves the completion of the first phase of the Lusail City development featuring the Marina and Wadi Districts. Work on the Marina District is progressing according to schedule with the road network approaching near completion, landscaping underway and the first of the plot building developments also on track for completion.
