Managing Director Yousef bin Abdulrahman al-Zamil (R)
Manama - BNA

Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPCA) Managing Director H.E Yousef bin Abdulrahman Al Zamil has applauded the Company’s participation at the Ninth Annual Gulf Petrochemical and Chemical Association (GPCA) Forum in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
H.E said that he was also very impressed at the GPIC pavilion set up at the exhibition held along with the Forum. The Company’s products, manufactured at its state of the art facilities were on display at the pavilion, which drew visitors from across the region and beyond. The GPIC’s stress on environment protection as well as its investment in environmentally friendly technology was also highlighted at the forum with the help of pictures and illustrations.
H.E Mr. Al-Zamil said the Forum was an opportunity for the GPIC delegation to take advantage of the experiences of experts in the field of petrochemicals and chemicals through extensive discussions and workshops through several interactive sessions. These sessions, he said, focussed on key developments experienced by the industry globally and how these could be implemented in the sustainability of growth in the Gulf region’s petrochemical industry.
The Managing Director stressed the importance of the GPIC being a founding member of the GPCA and described the annual forum as the most prominent on the agenda of the regional petrochemical sector. He said a record number of participants took part in the forum this year.
The GPIC delegation was headed by its President, Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery, as part of the Company’s commitment to actively take part in various activities, events and gatherings organised by the GPCA since its inception in 2006.
H.E Mr. Al-Zamil presented a working paper, which dealt with the importance of strengthening mutual economic relations between China and the GCC countries, especially Saudi Arabia, during the event. He spoke about ways to increase communication and the development of economic ties and the search for new opportunities to promote investment and trade between the two sides, stressing that China and all GCC countries should work together in order to achieve integration and ensure continued economic growth.
H.E the Managing Director, in his paper, also spoke on a need to pay more attention to gaining knowledge as a way for the prosperity of companies, and pointed out that access to knowledge was perhaps more important than capital and resources issues.
The forum was organized in cooperation with British Company ICIS, which specialises in market intelligence for the global chemical, energy and fertilizer industries. It provided networking and relationship building opportunities for this industry in the Gulf through a variety of activities.
Since its first meeting in 2006, the forum has grown steadily each year and acquired a reputation in the global chemical industry. Last year's forum attracted about 1,900 international executives from 40 countries.
The GPCA is the first union of its kind in the sector in the Middle East and has seen a steady expansion of its activities and events since its inception. The union has achieved a new dimension of discussions involving petrochemicals and chemical manufacturers, who share their concepts and ideas.
The union also aims to strengthen the role of GCC states in formulating policies and regulations related to the chemicals and petrochemicals sector in all fields so as to ensure sustainable growth and social charge of the industry regionally.
