Gulf Petrochemical Company delegation visits Bahraini Charter Monument

A delegation from the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) visited the National Action Charter (NAC) Monument in Sakhir as part of a visit by Chief Executives and other officials of national companies.
The delegation was received by its General Director Dr. Khawla Al Mohannadi, who briefed them on the exhibits and their importance in the history of Bahrain. She spoke about the National Action Charter and the edifice and said it represents the people of Bahrain from a cultural and awareness point of view and carries a humanitarian message for visitors of all ages.
Dr. Mohannadi praised the important role of GPIC President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery and that of the heads of other companies in making Bahrain an industrial hub in the region and said their efforts had been in the service of society and the promotion of citizenship represented by the monument.
She added that the Monument’s main exhibition hall shows Bahrain’s national achievements and provides important information with the help of interactive presentations and games directed at children among the visitors.
Dr. Mohannadi said the National Monument shows post-oil development and modern Bahrain industries and stressed the need for all of them to work together to develop and update the site so that it remained in the hearts of all Bahrainis and reflected the vision of His Majesty King Hamad and the achievements and aspirations of the people.
Dr. Jawahery said it was a good opportunity to see the development at the site, a symbol of cohesion of the Bahraini people. He praised the role of Dr. Mohannadi in coordinating and organising such visits.
The National Charter focusses on unity and diversity and respect for others and stresses on perseverance, determination, dedication, cooperation, tolerance and responsibility. It also encourages creativity on the basis of pride, confidence, openness, vision and courage, as well as planning and preparation, design, implementation, review and follow-up. The edifice was completed in five years after being envisaged in 2006 and extensive contributions from top brains in the educational, cultural and technological fields. Its main building is a circular two-level structure with a large entrance hall. Inscribed on the building, clad in natural stone, are the names of 220,000 citizens who voted on the National Action Charter.
The Monument is a symbol of the evolution of democracy in Bahrain and everything a modern Gulf country stands for. It was built by the people of Bahrain to honour efforts of those who worked towards a better tomorrow. The structure, located on a 72,418sqm plot in the northern part of Sakhir, also comprises a 2,200 metre main exhibition space, a 2,000 seat Amphitheatre, 65-metre sundial, conference rooms, laser towers, bronze fountains as well as various art installments and sprawling gardens.
