Keurig recalls over 7m coffee makers for spraying hot liquid

Keurig Green Mountain is recalling over 7 million coffee makers sold in North America after customers reported the machine sprayed hot liquid at them, causing severe burns in some cases.
The United States Consumer Protection Agency received roughly 200 notices from Keurig MINI Plus Brewing Systems owners complaining that "water can overheat during brewing, spray out and burn consumers." Of those 200, the CPA says just under half reported suffering "burn-related injuries" after using the MINI Plus.
Around 6.6 million MINI 11-inch Plus Brewing Systems were sold in the United States, and an additional 564,000 in Canada, between December 2009 and July 2014. Recalled units were sold in black, red, white, cobalt blue, aqua blue, purple, platinum, emerald, yellow, orchid, bayberry, mauve and poinciana. The potentially harmful coffee makers have an identification number beginning with the digits "31" on the machine's underside.
"We are working closely with our retail customers to recall all affected product," Keruig spokeswoman Suzanne DuLong told Bloomberg.
The entire coffee maker does not need to be replaced according to the CPA, instead customers can contact Keruig at 1-844-255-7886 and make arrangements for a free repair.
