
Kuwait Oil Tanker Company (KOTC) has received the 2014 Lloyd's Safety and Security Award as the top tanker firm in the Middle East and the Indian Subcontinent, the company said on Wednesday.
KOTC was handed the award at the Maritime Standard (TMS) Middle East and Indian Subcontinent Awards held in Dubai recently, the company added in a statement.
The award is a major achievement and classification for the company on the regional and international levels, for the prize has prominence in the maritime transport industry, it noted.
Not only does the award reflect KOTC's commitment to the highest safety and security on deck, but also the company's dedication to its responsibilities as a national and strategic tanker company of importance to the State and the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, chairman Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.
Sheikh Talal dedicated the award to the KOTC staff for their "sincere and hard work" to raise it to the rank of world's leading companies in the field.
