
A new pharmaceutical factory opened in Tomsk, Western Siberia, on Friday.
The new factory, housed by the state-owned company Microgen, will operate by the Good Manufacturing Practice /GMP/ standards and make immunobiological preparations and injection solutions.
The Russian government has set the task of bringing domestic production of critical medicines to 90% by 2018.
The import of medicines in 2013 increased by 9.7% year to year to $11.8 billion. According to the Ministry of Economic Development, the share of imported medicines sold at pharmacies is as high as 80%.
