Abu Dhabi - Arabstoday

The American University in Dubai (AUD) is organising its annual career fair “Act Now: AUD Careers Today” today with participation from 68 employers, representing multinational, regional, and local companies. “The Career Services team dedicates their time and expertise to establishing strong relationships with employers. As a result, the Career Fair has become a flourishing tradition that transforms those relationships into practical, real-life experiences for our students. I support our staff and students as they embark on this journey--one, in particular, which may change and/or determine the course of their lives for years to come” said Rachel Baldwin, dean of Student Services. The objective of this annual event is to facilitate the development of relationships between the AUD student community and employers in order to meet the needs of today’s marketplace. Abraham Togatorop, HR director, Unilever Gulf, said: “At Unilever we seek to build a healthy pipeline of quality talent. Participating at the AUD Career Fair allows us to connect strong academic qualifications with the right opportunities at Unilever. It also provides us with an opportunity for deeper engagement with outstanding students who are eager to acquire experience at a diverse multinational company, like ours.” Lana Eltarazi, Training & Recruiting manager - Gulf, Procter & Gamble, said: “The AUD Career Fair was very well organized with students who were well-prepared for their future career. Fantastic candidates were found for our P&G Summer Internship Program.” Stella Mandehou, Career Services manager, noted: “This eagerly-awaited event has grown again this year with 68 regional and international employers who registered to attend. The high employer participation and student participation attendance exceeded our expectations. “We are confident that the results of this year’s “ACT Now” will reflect on a large placements number as it ultimately continues to place of AUD graduates and students with companies that are widely recognized as industry leaders.” Each company was represented by its Human Resources personnel, ready to answer questions on their company, employment opportunities and market trends. AUD students and alumni were able to interact with company representatives who assisted them in their career planning and professional development. A series of employer presentations also took place throughout the weeks prior to the Career Fair, offering students and alumni an even broader view of employer corporate cultures and opportunities. “I cannot imagine a better opportunity for students to present themselves and indulge in direct and diverse career exploration. Their success in doing so is due to the professional conduct, CV writing, mock interviews, and other skill-based training they have engaged in via Career Services” added Baldwin. This year’s “Act Now” consisted of employers specializing in finance and banking, marketing, advertising, media, recruitment, engineering, visual communication, graphic design and information technology.  TradeArabia News
