Chinese courier firm SF Express has agreed to take over the overseas delivery service for US retailer Costco.
SF Express will be able to cut the delivery time to as short as five days. The firm will take care of the customs clearance procedures of the products before delivering to customers on China’s mainland after Costco hands them over to SF Express in Taiwan, the delivery firm said in a weekend statement.
Costco debuted on Alibaba’s B2C website Tmall on October 12 and the US retailer had sold 3 tons of Corcoran nuts and 500 kilograms of cranberries to Chinese mainland consumers in the first three days, Shenzhen-based SF Express said.
Tmall International also said over 100,000 mainland consumers have ordered the cranberry and nut products, the two most popular items on its website, for Singles Day on November 11. Costco offers about 120 items such as food, beverage and household general merchandise.
“Based on its popularity among Chinese consumers, SF would offer its frozen chain logistics service to deliver fish and meat products for Costco to Chinese consumers,” a SF Express press officer surnamed Lu said. The company offers delivery services to Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Australia, South Korea, Malaysia and Vietnam, she said.
