Supermarket chain Shaw\'s said it would close four Massachusetts and two Rhode Island stores in early August. The Boston Globe reported Tuesday the stores to be closed were in Fall River, Fairhaven, Stoughton and Taunton in Massachusetts and in Westerly and Woonsocket in Rhode Island. The company owned by Cerberus Capital management LP operates 155 Shaw\'s supermarkets and 14 stores under the Star Market brand. The outlets to be shuttered are all Shaw\'s outlets. \"The stores identified have not been profitable for quite some time, and despite the best efforts of the company and our associates, we have not been able to reposition them to better compete in the marketplace and don\'t anticipate being able to change this trend,\" the company said in a statement.
