Siemens\' first overseas digital factory started operating on Wednesday in Chengdu, capital of southwest China\'s Sichuan Province, producing products for worldwide markets. The Siemens Electronics Works Chengdu (SEWC), built in Chengdu High-Tech Zone, is highly digitalized from product design to manufacturing, said Anton Huber, CEO of Siemens AG Industrial Automation Division. He said that SEWC started mass production of Simatic IPC 3000 SMART, a new generation of industry automation products. \"The investment shows our confidence in further growth in China,\" said Marc Wucherer, president of Industry Sector Siemens North East Asia. He said SEWC will raise the R&D and production efficiency of Siemens industry automation products, and \"shorten the time-to-market.\" SEWC mainly manufactures Simatic industry automation products, providing control systems and solutions for industrial firms ranging from automobile, metallurgy, petrochemical, food and beverage, to infrastructure. Liu Chao, secretary of the party work committee of the Chengdu High-Tech Zone, said the Siemens factory will help upgrade the development of the modern manufacturing industry in Chengdu, making it one of the high-end industrial bases in the world.
