Verizon Wireless said it had restored service for all 4G customers by Wednesday afternoon. Customers complained on Wednesday about the outage on Verizon’s 4G LTE Community website, but Verizon Wireless, the largest U.S. mobile-phone carrier, didn’t give details about the cause of the outage or how many users were affected. According to the folks at The Verge — who have been keeping track of the origins of the posts — the reports are coming in from “pretty much everywhere” including California, Rhode Island, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Nevada, New Jersey, and New York. Similar 4G outages were reported earlier this month and in April, when some customers using 4G phones, such as HTC Corp.’s Thunderbolt, could only achieve 3G or slower download speeds. Verizon Wireless is co-owned by Verizon Communications Inc. and Vodafone Group PLC. It struck a 3.6 billion dollar alliance earlier this month with cable companies led by Comcast Corp. that will change how customers buy Internet, mobile and pay-TV services.
