Whiskey of Jack Daniel's brand withdrawn from shops in Urals

A batch of whiskey of the Jack Daniel's Tennessee Honey brand will have been withdrawn from shops in the Sverdlovsk region in the Urals by Friday.
Laboratory tests conducted by experts of a local consumer rights protection service have confirmed the presence of a substance normally not used by whiskey producers, Chief of a local consumer protection service Natalia Lukyantseva told ITAR-TASS Thursday. Earlier, the whiskey had been sold at shops in Yekaterinburg, she said.
A sample of the drink branded "hazardous" contains sugar and honey, said Alexander Gorelin - a representative of the Brown Forman Rus company which represents Jack Daniel's products in Russia.
He blamed the regional Rospotrebnadzor which mistook liquor for whiskey during qualification tests.
Meanwhile, shop managers have been instructed to withdraw "the hazardous alcohol" by August 22 .
In mid-August experts of the regional Rospotrebnadzor service made whiskey tests to establish whether the trade mark, documentation conformed to the declared whisky brand produced in the United States.
Neither Jack Daniel's Tennessee whiskey nor whiskey of the Bourbon brand conformed to the established standards, experts said. A batch of whiskey bottles was found with no mention of conformity to sanitary norms on labels in violation of the existing law, they said.
