
Tokyo stocks dipped Wednesday morning on the yen's appreciation against the U.S. dollar while investors moved to lock in gains after shares rose over the past two trading sessions.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 48.39 points, or 0.29 percent, from Tuesday to 16,716.58.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, dropped 5.38 points, or 0.41 percent, to 1,312.11.
Issues that notably lost ground by the morning break comprised rubber products, securities and insurance-linked stocks.
