Customs and road security foiled an attempt to smuggle a consignment of mobiles and electrical equipment in a truck at the crossing point of Salwa border. The Director General of Salwa customs Abdul Rahman Al-Hana said that the customs officer at the tracking center received a call from the road security stating that the driver of a truck tried to deviate from his course and that he was eventually stopped, and after a search of the truck it turned out that the consignment (in the truck) contained accessories of mobiles and electrical equipment. An amount of SR 50,000 was also discovered. This was meant for the transport of the goods. Customs officers at the crossing point of Towal also foiled another attempt of smuggling SR 509,200 Riyals hidden inside a car. The Acting Director General of Customs at the crossing point of Towal, Ziad Al-Aradi said it turned out that the amount was stolen. At the Customs of King Fahd Causeway, Customs officers also aborted during the month of Muharram 1434 AH, smuggling of a total of 496 beer cans with alcohol, and 1,176 bottles of whiskey and other brands of wines, and 104.85 grams of narcotic ‘hashish,’ and 28 grams of ‘Shabu’ drug substance, and 15,386 liters of petroleum derivatives that are export restricted, and 48 kg of pork, and 1,859 birds in addition to an amount of SR 2,191,022 that had not been disclosed.
