Gasoline-powered Japanese, US cars hold position amid diesel onslaught

Japanese and U.S.-made cars powered by gasoline engines defended their market share in South Korea amid the onslaught of diesel-powered rivals from Germany, industry data showed Friday. According to the Korea Automobile Importers and Distributors Association (KAIDA), diesels were the most popular option in the imported car market, accounting for close to 65 percent of all sales in 2013. Last year, 156,497 imported cars were sold in the country.
