Kuala Lumpur - Irna
A Malaysian expert said on Wednesday that sanctions against Iran’s oil exports will have destructive effects on the global economy. In an exclusive interview with IRNA, Karim Douglas, an expert with the Malaysian Institute of the Islamic Studies stressed that the international market may not ignore Iran’s oil. The sanctions would particularly damage those countries in dire need of Iranian oil, he noted. Such sanctions cannot damage Iran’s will to pursue nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, he said reiterating that the sanctions would only damage the global economy which is already hit by the crises stemmed from the inappropriate performance of the western countries. Praising Iran’s great potentials in various fields, he said many world countries have close cooperation with the Islamic Republic and will not abandon their trade exchanges with the country for the sake of the arrogant powers. Such moves are indications to West’s disability to confront Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities, Douglas said. The Zionist regime, incapable of confronting the Islamic Republic of Iran, tries to provoke the West to stand against Tehran in order to disappoint the Iranian nation of pursuing its peaceful nuclear program, while such moves have not been successful in stopping Iran’s nuclear activities, the Malaysian expert emphasized. The US and European states, through their new conspiracy, have in fact waged a global economic war by which they, themselves, would witness the most severe damage, he concluded.
