Abu Dhabi - WAM

In partnership with the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, ADNOC, and BP, the U.A.E.'s Embassy in London is to launch the U.A.E.-U.K. Pioneers Forum, the first ever careers fair for both British and Emirati students seeking to meet the U.A.E. and U.K.'s leading employers. The forum will take place over the weekend of 18th-19th January at Victoria House in Bloomsbury Square, London. It will include several workshops and symposiums, which make this careers fair especially unique. They will be delivered by senior Emirati and British business leaders and influencers across industries, allowing students to interact directly with these leaders of industry for the first time. The sessions will offer students insightful career advice on various themes around graduate employability, recruitment and professional development. Presenters will include Professor William Scott-Jackson, Chairman of Oxford Strategic Consulting, Amal Azzedine, Director of Government Services at the U.A.E.-based global telecommunications provider, Thuraya Telecommunications Company and Gerard Evenden, Senior Partner, Foster + Partners, amongst many others. Speakers at the Forum's opening ceremony will include Abdulkarim Al Mazmi, BP's Chief Representative in the U.A.E. and former President of BP Middle East, as well as Noura Al Kaabi, a Member of the Federal National Council and CEO of twofour54, the Abu Dhabi Media Zone Authority, and the U.A.E.'s Ambassador to the U.K., Abdulrahman Ghanem Almutaiwee CVO. ADNOC's Director-General, Abdullah Nasser Al Suwaidi, said, "As a company at the heart of the U.A.E.'s economic development, we're proud to support the U.A.E.-U.K. Pioneers Forum. ADNOC strives to be a force for good, and the Forum is a chance for us to equip students with the skills and advice they need to get ahead in a competitive industry." Al Mazmi is unique in his position as an Emirati representing a British oil firm at the highest level, and serves as a role model to U.A.E. students looking to break into multinationals. He said, "BP has been investing in the U.A.E. for over 70 years, working to help develop the oil and gas sector. There are great careers to be made in the oil and gas industry, but the U.A.E. offers much wider opportunities too as a dynamic and increasingly diverse economy. The U.A.E.-U.K. Pioneers Forum is an ideal chance for Emirati and British students to learn and for companies like BP to share advice on how to get ahead in careers in the U.A.E.." Noura Al Kaabi, the first Emirati to be ranked on Foreign Policy Magazine's Top 100 Global Thinkers List 2013, said, "The U.A.E. and U.K.'s first pioneers worked together to explore for natural resources that changed the way we live. But the U.A.E.-U.K. Pioneers Forum will also showcase the U.A.E.'s leading role as a creative hub in the region, so that today's students can become pioneers in the arts, media and culture industries in one of the world's most exciting places to work." Abdulrahman Ghanem Almutaiwee CVO, the U.A.E.'s Ambassador to the UK, said, "After Dubai's winning bid to host World Expo 2020, it is a particularly opportune moment for both Emirati and British students to consider a career in the U.A.E.. Our economy is diversifying, and the U.A.E. is the most developed country in the Arab world, which is why over 100,000 Britons already live and work there." The event is in partnership with Abu Dhabi National Oil Company and BP, sponsored by leading U.A.E. '&' U.K. firms such as Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, Mubadala, Masdar, Tawazun, Abu Dhabi Education Council, Dubai Electricity '&' Water Authority, Environment Agency Abu Dhabi, National Bank of Abu Dhabi, Standard Chartered, National Electronic Security Authority, Abu Dhabi Health Services Company, twofour54, Image Nation Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi Media, GlaxoSmithKline, Advanced Technology Investment Company, Thuraya Telecommunications Company, Abu Dhabi Ports Company, Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority, Serco and Etihad Airways.
