
The Al Habtoor Group, or AHG, and Emaar are in talks to collaborate on investments in Belarus. Senior executives from both Dubai conglomerates discussed investment opportunities in the eastern European country at the Al Habtoor Group head office on Al Wasel Road. Ahmad Thani Al Matrooshi, managing director, Emaar Properties came to meet with Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor, Chairman, Al Habtoor Group. Present at the meeting were Mohammed Al Habtoor, vice-chairman and CEO; Mohammed Fadhel Al Mazrooei, managing director; Maan Halabi, executive director and Sanjeev Agarwala, director Strategy & Business Development. The meeting comes after Al Habtoor spent four days in Belarus in mid-October to look at potential investment opportunities there. Al Habtoor was invited to the capital Minsk on invitation from the Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich who had visited the UAE earlier in the year. DSI signs Dh149m contracts Drake & Scull International, or DSI, a regional market leader in integrated design, engineering and construction disciplines of Civil Contracting, Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP), Water and Power, Oil and Gas, and Rail, has signed on Tuesday two MEP contracts for a Dh55 million hotel apartment project and a Dh40 million district cooling project in Qatar in addition to a Dh54 million residential tower project in India. Mobilisation on site for the three projects is underway. The hotel apartment project is scheduled for completion in February 2014 and the district cooling project in November 2013, similarly the residential tower is also expected to be completed in November 2013. Quality conference concludes The 2012 Quality and Business Excellence Conference, organised by the Dubai Quality Group (DQG), in co-operation with the American Society for Quality (ASQ), on the occasion of World Quality Month, successfully concluded on Tuesday. The two-day meet, which embodied a broad and complex vision for excellence and innovation, kicked off on Monday with a set of objectives, programmes and qualitative activities, which fell under the World Quality Month campaign. Saleh Janeeh, chairman, DQG, said: “The Quality and Business Excellence Conference this year, is another image of excellence and a qualitative celebration offered by DQG on the occasion of the World Quality Month.” Janeeh confirmed that through this conference, DQG is keen to continue the approach of excellence and innovation in various fields.
