Chinese lighting company, NVC Lighting and FINA, the International Swimming Federation, signed an agreement on Saturday for NVC to sponsor the Diving World Series for 4 years from 2014-2017 inclusive. The signing ceremony took place in the context of the 2013 World Swimming Championships which are currently being held in the Spanish city of Barcelona. The FINA/NVC Diving World Series will consist of six meetings in cities such as Beijing, Dubai, Edinburgh, Moscow and Guadalajara and includes events such as 3 meter springboard, 10 meter platform and synchronized events, with participants invited on the basis of their world ranking. FINA President Julio Maglione said he was very satisfied at the agreement, which considers to be especially appropriate given that Chinese divers currently dominate the sport \"The FINA Diving World Series is one of our main events and China is one of the top nations in this discipline. The future is bright with NVC and it is a big honor for us,\" he said. Meanwhile Wu Changjiang, the President of NVC, said he hopes the ceremony was \"the start of deep cooperation,\" \"In NVC we have had a long relationship with sport as sportspeople like NVC show a passion for self-improvement,\" he said, pointing out that his company had also worked to help provide lighting at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games and the 2010 World Cup. \"We have developed quickly in recent years and our brand is well known and respected and we aim to work alongside FINA to promote or long term goals,\" explained Wu.
