Doha - QNA
Qatar Development Bank’s (QDB) export wing ‘Tasdeer’ is showcasing seven Qatari power companies at the Middle East Electricity Exhibition at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre, which was officially opened there Tuesday. For the second consecutive year the QDB is helping Qatar companies boost exports at the Middle East Electricity expo, the bank said Wednesday. Several Qatari companies entered new markets following trade agreements signed at last year’s expo. Hosted by QDB, Qatar’s pavilion provides local exporters a forum to showcase products, explore the latest technology trends, global innovations and participate in workshops.Doha Cables, General Switchgear and Lighting Industries, Qatar International Cables Company (QICC), Uniplast Factory, Aziz Manufacturing Advanced Technology Products, Q-Tec Switchgear and Alshams Advanced Lighting Technologies are showcasing their products at the Qatari pavilion.QDB CEO Abdulaziz Bin Nasser Al Khalifa said, “QDB’s participation conforms with our strategic objectives to develop Qatar’s export sector by providing a platform for Qatari companies to network and develop new gateways into different markets.”“We are proud of the high-quality, competitive products Qatari companies presented – meeting and exceeding the latest international standards and specifications, he said. He stressed QDB’s push through Tasdeer to support and promote made-in-Qatar products and exports. Local exports have recorded positive growth resulting from a range of initiatives launched by QDB including support for Qatari Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) at international exhibitions such as NPE in Orlando, The Big Five in Dubai and the Plast Expo in Morocco. Other aims include identifying importers in markets beyond the GCC region, arranging and facilitating buyer-seller meetings, as well as organizing workshops on international trade topics to raise awareness and understanding of export opportunities among Qatari SME exporters, he added.UAE Minister of Finance and Dubai Deputy Ruler HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum officially opened the 39th edition of Middle East Electricity expo. This year’s event features more than 1,250 exhibitors from 55 countries and assembles over 47,000 experts, industry leaders and visitors from energy and electricity industries. The expo concludes tomorrow, Thursday.
